: Wealth in Waste :: [Seminar January 2006 update]
"Wealth in Waste” as a self-sustainable Project
A town which we all love. Let us make it clean and presentable.
In August of 2005 HOPE launched another project known as “Wealth in Waste”, which was all about garbage management. One of the main problems most of the developing towns all over the world are facing at present is what to do with their ever-increasing mountain of waste. Our town Kalimpong is no exception to this. And matter of fact, garbage management is not exactly the easiest of tasks to solve.
We were fully aware that for this project to be successful we needed to get the support from the municipality as well as from all the communities in and around town. Everybody would need to co-operate and support the effort made by the town’s municipality and only then we would be able to make garbage management more effective.
After months of research we came to the conclusion that something needed to be done rather urgently to deal with the unsightly rubbish littering the town, rivers and countryside.
So we put our heads together and as a result we initiated:
Conclusion:
First we need to change our attitude before we can change our environment.
Help us make Kalimpong beautiful.
